The tiger was very a long time an animal fears and by the same occasion a prey of choice for the hunters wishing to be made a name in the high society. The massacre which was followed from there during 19th and the 20th century decimated most of the species. This felid, although protected, dies a little more each day because of poaching and of the reduction of its living space. The only chance of the tiger lies in the creation of national parks and reserves where the man will not encroach on his territory. These reserves are the single chance of hello for the South Chinese tiger in particular because the animal is in direct competition with the man for his range.
The tiger counts 8 subspecies whose 3 last are extinct because of the man : the Caspian tiger in the Sixties, the Javan tiger in the Seventies and the Bali tiger in the Forties.

In a reaction to the threat, principal ONG implied in the conservation of the tiger created “International Tiger Coalition”. The coalition requires Chinese government which it closes the farms and of breeding of tiger. China confirms the prohibition of the trade and starts to do a serious work of its application.
Created in 1995 like a partnership between “ExxonMobil Foundation” and the “National Fish and Wildlife Foundation”, STF gave 313 subsidies adding up 15.7 million $ between 1995 and 2007, rising with approximately a quarter of all the funds devoted to the philanthropy of conservation of the tiger on a world level.
