

LEOPON / PANTHERA LEOPARDUS
The leopon is an hybrid, product of the crossing between a panther and a lion. Ignored and particularly not very common, the majority of the rare individuals are captive.
MORPHOLOGY
The léopon is a rather imposing animal of size: indeed, it belongs to largest current felines the. Its body is of fawn-coloured color, almost but, and has a large variety of small spots and brown rivet washers. At the end of its tail exists a small tuft of hairs. The male, contrary to the female, has small a mane brown and plain which makes it more imposing.
PROPORTIONS
The léopon measurement between 1.30 m and about 2.50 m. At this species, the male is taller than the female. Its height with the tourniquet goes from 75 cm to almost a meter. It weighs between 60 kg and 150 kg.
HISTORY
The léopon is the result of a crossing between a leopard and a lioness. This crossing is not very usual. The first case reported date of 1910. The most famous births of let us léopons occurred in Koshien Hanshin Park in Japan. 5 hybrids were born there.
