Bear: associations are mobilized

It is done ! Since January 1st, 2010, France does not have any more a Plan of restoration of the population of bear in the Pyrenees, in total contradiction with the commitments entered into by the Government and the international obligations of France (Directive European ""Habitats" and convention of Bern). Here is how France inaugurates the International Year of the Biodiversity… bad manner !
However, the brown bear is one of the two only species of mammals "in critical danger of extinction" in France, according to the UICN.
Associations, in particular Ferus and Pays de l'Ours - Adet, thus launch a great mobilization in favor of the protection of the brown bear, and issue that 2010 are "the Year of the bear".
Throughout the year, associations will multiply the actions of information, sensitizing and interpellation of the government, with an aim of obtaining a new Plan of restoration of the population of bear worthy of the stake.
This January 20th, 2010, associations marked with their manner the unveiling of the International Year of the Biodiversity in France, by symbolically hanging three teddy bears with the bridge of Alma in Paris, under the streamer : "2010 = International Year of the Biodiversity. AND THE BEAR ?"
This action, which aims at denouncing the nonrenewal of the Plan of restoration of the population of brown bear in the Pyrenees, had already been carried out by Artus association (become Ferus) twenty years ago, and we note with bitterness which the situation developed only little.
In the same way, associations launch a large petition today, in two forms :
A "traditional" petition.
A video petition, thanks to which each one can as of now being filmed reading a text addressed to the President of the Republic. We will thus diffuse video assemblies "polyphonic" showing the extent of the mobilization in favor of the bear.
