

INTRODUCTION
The last tigers of Bali were seen west of the island towards the end of the year 1930. The national park of Bali-Barat was built on the range even tiger. It is probable that the species disappeared completely after the end from the second world war, to see at the end of the years 1950. The causes of its extinction were the loss of its range as well as the lack of preys. There is to date no tiger of Bali in captivity. It belongs to the 3 subspecies of tigers having completely disappeared from our planet.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The tiger of Bali was smallest of the subspecies of tiger. Its weight hardly exceeded 100 kg. Its size was comparable with that of a leopard, which is only half of the size of the Siberian tiger.
This tiger was, in-outside its small size, very similar to the Javan tiger, species which also disappeared. The black bands were very numerous on its body but its color was can be darker. The fur of the Bali tiger was short and dense of sharp orange color and with stripes darker than the other subspecies. Between the bands appeared occasionally of small blackheads.
The skull of this tiger can be undoubtedly identified because of differences on the teeth and the bones of the nose. These some differences enable us to distinguish it from the other tigers.
DISTRIBUTION
This felid lived on the Indonesian island of Bali, small island belonging to the islands of the Probe between the island of Java and that of Lombok. The population was isolated from that of Java after the last glacial period. After this one, the strait of Bali separated the 2 islands. According to the scientists, the range of the tiger was limited to the area of the littoral of the western part of the island.
