A national park is a territory classified under the protection of the man. This classification is done by decree so that this place becomes a natural environment protected for fauna and the flora which develops to with it.
These place are mainly selected when conservation of fauna, the flora, the ground, the basement, the atmosphere, water and, in general, of a natural environment presents a special interest and that it is important to preserve this medium against any effect of natural degradation and to withdraw it from any artificial intervention likely to deteriorate the aspect of it...
The interest of these parks is not in any tourist way, but lies especially in the biodiversity of which they conceal each one a share. For the park of the mercantour for example, the interest is the wolf, Everglades the manatee and the panther of Florida or for the Kruger National park with the white rhinoceros.
In 2003, the list of the United Nations counted more than 100 000 protected areas in the world, including 3 881 national parks (category II of UICN). Some are so exceptional that they were classified with on the List of the world heritage of UNESCO like the National park of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
The first approach of the idea of national park was formulated in the United States in 1832 by the American painter George Catlin (1796-1872). Back from a voyage in the West, he proposes a policy of protection by the government of a "park containing men and animals in all the wild beauty of their nature".
The first reserve is born in the United States where Abraham Lincoln, on June 30th, 1864, declares ground public inalienable the valley of Yosemite in California. It is however Yellowstone, with horse on the States of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, which must be regarded as first national park in the world. It was created by the law of March 1st, 1872. The second was the Australian royal National park created in 1879 and then Yosemite having to wait until 1890 to have the same regulation.
More recently, certain national parks, for particularly remarkable actions of protection, obtained the European diploma of the Council of Europe. With European space, the concept of transborder park gathering the Mercantour national park and "Parco naturale delle Alpi marittime" was thus concretized.
Find below a list of parks and reserves which I chose for you. All the parks of which I speak all are quoted at one time or others on one of the animalist cards present on the site. It is of course that I could in no way all of quoting them or to make a description of it.
